# Fixes, your coding agent and approvals

> Sending problems to your coding agent, how Stableship checks its fixes, and who approves what.

## How do I get my coding agent to fix the problems?

Every problem comes with a fix plan. Choose **Send to my agent** on a release to get:

- A prompt for an agent already connected to Stableship. It traces each problem to its cause in your code and database, shows you a plan with problems that share a cause grouped together, then fixes them in order once you agree.
- Or a private link, with the same ask, for any other agent or builder. It works for 7 days, shows only the problems and how to fix them, and can be turned off in Settings, then Connections, Agent links.

Claude Code, Cursor, Codex, Windsurf, Lovable, Bolt, Replit and v0 connect to the Stableship MCP server (`https://api.stableship.ai/mcp`). Most sign in through your browser; the others use a token you create in the app. Any agent can read `STABLESHIP_FIXES.md`. In Claude Code, the Stableship plugin adds a `/stableship:gate` command.

## Does Stableship write the fix?

No. Your coding agent writes every fix; Stableship finds the problem, explains it and checks the fix. Each problem has a fix brief: what is wrong, the rule it breaks, where to look and what must be true once it is fixed. Every push after a fix is re-checked, and a connected agent can ask Stableship to verify one fix on its own branch.

Until 2 November 2026, Protect included "Fix it for me" pull requests written by Stableship. They are retired: fixes drafted before then were closed without being opened, and a pull request Stableship already opened stays in your repository for you to merge or close.

## Who approves what?

Owners and admins, by default, approve shipping a held release anyway, making checks less strict, changing the rules and what a coding agent asks to do. A project's policy can add others or require more than one approval.

## Can I approve from Slack or email?

Yes. Slack messages for approvals and held releases carry buttons, and emails carry personal one-tap links. An email link works once, for 48 hours, and only acts when you press the button on the page it opens. The first time you press a Slack button, Stableship may ask you to connect your Slack account to your Stableship account.

## Can Stableship merge or push to my repository?

No. Stableship never writes to your repository: no pushes, no pull requests, no merges. Your coding agent writes and commits every fix, from the fix plan (`STABLESHIP_FIXES.md`), and Stableship checks it. When a release has to come back out and your host cannot put the previous version back, Stableship gives you the revert for your coding agent (`git revert` and the commit), never a pull request.
